Inishtooskert

This photo was taken from Clogher Beach looking out across the sea to the island of Inishtooskert. Clogher is located on the Dingle Peninsula, not far from Slea Head. There is a lovely beach there with a great view of Inishtooskert. Unfortunately, it is not safe to swim there but it is nice to sit back and watch the waves crashing against the rocks.
Inishtooskert is the northernmost of the Blasket Islands. The name means "northern island". Inishtooskert holds important seabird colonies, as well as extensive ruins of ancient stone buildings. It is sometimes given the nickname "The Sleeping Giant", as it does look like a man lying down with his hands clasped across his belly.
