Trotternish Ridge

Trotternish Ridge

The Trotternish Peninsula is the most northerly of Skye's peninsulas. It extends north from Portree to its eventual end at Rubha Hunish, covering an area of land some 20 miles long and 8 miles wide. It contains some of the most striking landscapes and spectacular geological features in Scotland. Hundreds and millions of years of formation have resulted in a land of contrast and dramatic upheaval.

The Trotternish Ridge is a 20-mile-long inland cliff winding down the centre of the peninsula. Its whole length is studded with fascinating rock formations, pinnacles and pillars, the most famous of which are the Quiraing complex and the Old Man of Storr.
