Sound of Raasay

Sound of Raasay

Raasay is one of the Inner Herbridean Islands. To the East is the Scottish mainland and to the West is the Isle of Skye. The waters to the East of Raasay are known as The Inner Sound of Raasay which occupy some of the deepest channels around Britain. It and its eastern neighbour, the Inner Sound which separates the Inner Hebridean islands from Wester Ross, can be considered as southeastern arms of the Little Minch.

Splendid views like this one across the Sound of Raasay can be found on the Isle of Skye. In the distance you can see the mountains of Wester Ross. Wester Ross has some of the most remote and wild land in all of the UK and is noted for its spectacular mountains, most notably in Glen Torridon.
