Production
All of the pieces are hand-made in every phase of their production, using different work methods according to the particular design. All cylindrical pieces are turned on a hand wheel, while all the other shapes are produced using hand-building techniques such as pinch-pots or coiling.
The object is then left to dry, after which the finishing touches, for example, attaching the handles, are carried out. Once the object has dried it is ready to be fired for the first time at a temperature of about 1000 degrees centigrade, giving the bisque finish.
During the next phase, the object is immersed in a bath of non-toxic glaze or has the glaze poured over it. Any hand-painted designs required are then applied using a very fine brush.
The last phase is the second firing at around 1400 degrees centigrade, during which the coloured glaze and the clay fuse, giving the finished piece.
